Senior GL Accountant
Desotec is currently looking for a Senior GL Accountant to join our US finance team at our US headquarters in Darlington, PA or at our Houston, TX location. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the integrity of the general ledger, timely month-end close, and robust financial controls, while supporting the ongoing modernization of our finance function.
The role is hands-on and accounting-led, with exposure to reporting, analysis and ERP transformation. You will work closely with FP&A, operations, sales and HR, while remaining firmly anchored in accounting quality, compliance and control.
Key Responsibilities
Core Accounting & Close
Support and execute month-end and year-end close activities in line with Belgian / US GAAP (with support from Europe).
Perform account reconciliations, balance sheet reviews and ensure accurate account classification.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely and well-documented manner.
Support preparation of financial statements and audit deliverables.
Contribute to strengthening internal controls and accounting processes.
Sales Tax & Compliance Support
Take ownership of sales tax reporting and filings, in coordination with external advisors.
Ensure compliance with internal policies and external requirements.
Support documentation and audit readiness.
Reporting & Analysis (Support Role)
Perform variance analysis (actual vs. budget, forecast, prior year) and explain key drivers.
Prepare monthly analytical reports to support management decision-making.
Support KPI reporting and data accuracy in collaboration with FP&A.
Budgeting & Forecasting (Support Role)
Collaborate with FP&A and business stakeholders to collect and validate inputs.
Monitor budget adherence and cost center performance.
Flag risks and anomalies based on accounting insight.
Systems & Process Improvement
Support the ongoing ERP modernization (Dynamics) through testing, data validation and process documentation.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across accounting and reporting processes.
Qualifications & Skills
5–7 years of relevant US accounting experience.
Strong knowledge of US GAAP and general accounting principles.
Proven experience with month-end close and balance sheet ownership.
Comfortable working independently in a deadline-driven environment.
Strong attention to detail and professional judgment.
Experience with ERP systems (Dynamics/Navision a plus).
Proficiency in Excel; Power BI exposure is a plus.
Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
High integrity and ability to handle confidential financial information.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
